Committed & Allocated Inventory

Can somebody tell me the difference between Committed Inventory and Allocated Inventory? I know that the committed inventory is reffered as "hard allocation" in BaanIVc, and what is the difference between hand allocation and soft allocation?

Thanks in advance

Hard allocation is stock allocated to a specific order. Soft allocation is allocation on a warehouse/company level and not order specific which means that any order can use the stock.

Hard allocation = Outbound data.
Commitment functionality is mainly used if you do not use location control and you want to hard allocate stock.

Hi, Flip_J

Thanks a lot.

But can you tell me the difference between allocated inventory and committed inventory.

And for a location-controlled warehouse, what is the equivalence to commitment invetory?
